Turkey season is nearly upon us! For some this is the moment they've been waiting for all year. Others find this to be one more chance to get out before everything closes till dove season in September. Whatever the motivation, turkey season is something you should be a part of! Why?
First, turkeys are a worthy adversary. They have exceptional hearing, can see really really well with binocular vision, are very wary, come with feathers that function like armor plating, and are generally tough to hunt. That makes bagging one something that gives the hunter a feeling of real accomplishment. Which leads to the second point . . .
Secondly, turkeys require great skill. Calling, camoflage techniques, scouting and more are all needed to bag a wily ol' Tom. Don't sweat it though if you're a novice - at the Double K you'll be in expert hands that will guide you every step of the way.
Finally, turkey season requires all kinds of great gear. Okay, you can hunt without the vest, calls, decoys and more (and the Double K has a lot of that stuff) but it's so much fun to head down to Cabela's and load up on all the new stuff you've "got to have." The first rule of hunting is that the real hunter never has enough gear. Turkey season guarantees this axiom's truth.
If you've never done a spring turkey hunt this is your year. There is just nothing like calling in a big tom, seeing him strut and drum, hearing him gobble up close and personal. You've got to try it! If you have then you know what it's all about -- and you Kansas has some of the best turkey hunting in the country! Come and let's go turkey hunting!
